The Royal Mint have appointed FST&C to help them ensure their finances are in mint condition!

Given our extensive experience and great reviews from our classroom based learning, we thought that we should make our courses available to a wider audience.

From peas to profit! Birdseye engages FST&C to provide financial and commercial awareness training.
Raised my awareness significantly and provided me with tools to evaluate the financial strength of suppliers and clients.
Robin Herron, Pre-Construction Director
A case study based course initially aimed at Director level then adapted to be delivered at other levels within this successful construction company.
Background:
John Sisk & Son Limited is part of the Sisk Group of construction companies. John Sisk & Son are renowned for successfully delivering construction projects of all sizes in a diverse range of sectors. We first met with Julian Armitage, their Training Manager and Paul Wilson, their Deputy Managing Director in January 2008 to find out more about their development needs.
Objectives:
We learnt that their Directors and their direct reports needed a greater financial and commercial awareness and that they were looking for an interactive, competitive, challenging yet enjoyable training intervention. Unusually, we were asked specifically not to tailor the materials to the industry as it was felt people at this level should already understand it and that a more general course would be beneficial.
Solution:
Two of our Trainers worked together to develop and jointly deliver a course centred on a case study that required huge amounts of participation from all delegates and giving significant time for debate and discussion.
The group was split into two teams who were competing against each other to come up with the best solutions to the various questions posed to them throughout the course. Each element required delegates to really dig into the finances as well as considering wider commercial issues, both skills which are incredibly important for people working at this level.
Results:
At the end of the course, everyone felt that they had significantly improved their financial and commercial awareness. They felt that the course had been challenging but immensely worthwhile.
The course has since been modified to work well at other areas within the business.
